During November and December, Venezuelas can shop at stores that can remain open without COVID-19 restrictions. The aim is to help businesses make a profit during the busy holiday shopping season. Before this, stores were to open for one week, and close for one week.

The Venezuelan GDP has shrunk 74 percent in the last six years and 30 percent of businesses have closed since the pandemic started. While shoppers now have more time to browse, they must also wear masks and malls are taking their temperatures.
