Lebanese protesters block roads over worsening economic crisis

Protesters across Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon, and other cities in Lebanon blocked highways and intersections on Monday with burning tires and rubbish dumpsters. They called on the government to control the country's financial meltdown and worsening living conditions.

In recent weeks, Lebanese pound plummeted to a historic low of 25,800 to the U.S. dollar. The country's deteriorating economic crisis has pushed more than three quarters of the nations population of 6 million into poverty.
