The United Nations is asking for $41 billion to provide assistance next year to millions of people living in conflict and poverty worldwide. Their request includes $4.5 billion in aid to Afghanistan, which is one of five major crises the UN says need the most funding. 

More than 24 million people are in need of life-saving assistance, according to the UN.
