Total solar eclipse brings minutes of darkness to Antarctica

See incredible images of Saturday’s solar eclipse from the ‘Glaciar Union’ scientific polar station in Antarctica on Chilean territory.

A total eclipse takes place when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are in a direct line. The eclipse brought a few minutes of total darkness to the southernmost continent, the only place were the total eclipse could be seen on Earth.  It will be partially visible in South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and Australia on Saturday.
