As thousands of migrants enter and travel through Mexico with intentions of either staying in the country or reaching the U.S., immigration officials and migrant shelters are trying to house and move them to other states.

Mexican officials are transferring migrants from southern states to other regions and preparing for the arrival of asylum seekers who are sent back from the U.S. and/or must wait in Mexico during their immigration proceedings.

The first group of migrants to be returned to Mexico under the 'Remain in Mexico' policy are expected to arrive this week.
