At least 74 people in the U.S. state of Kentucky have died due to the tornadoes that swept across the U.S. Midwest, with the number expected to rise. Many survivors now find their homes torn up and devastated beyond repair in what one resident calls "Hell on Earth".

With over 109 people still missing, Kentucky governor Andy Beshear says the death toll will likely climb in the coming days. Disaster-aid and humanitarian groups are mobilizing to help tornado victims in the Midwestern U.S. and gathering donations to support their efforts.

Volunteers and supplies streamed into the U.S. State of Kentucky as the American Red Cross set up an emergency shelter for survivors of the tornado that rocked the city of Bowling Green.
