Christmas and Christmas Eve are the busiest days of the year for many American Chinese restaurants.
According to Google Trends, more people search for Chinese food during the week of Christmas than any other week of the year.
The tradition is believed to have originated in New York City in the late 1800s when many Jews, who don’t celebrate Christmas, lived alongside Chinese immigrant communities.
