The first few days of 2022 continued with thousands of flight delays for holiday travelers.

More than 3,800 global flights were cancelled on Sunday, more than half of them in the U.S.

On Saturday, 4,600 flights around the world were cancelled, and 2,600 in the United States, according to FlightAware.

The cancellations in the U.S. were due to growing COVID-19 cases as well as winter weather, especially in Chicago where more than 1,250 flights were cancelled. Take a look at the scene at some airports.
