It’s now a familiar pandemic scene: hospitals crushed by the surge of admissions that follows the latest COVID-19 variant, this time Omicron.

Doctors say they’re ​now buckling under the strain of unvaccinated patients who in turn infect staff once they’re admitted.

And one of the largest employers in the U.S. is struggling so much to meet vaccine and testing mandates, it’s asking the White House for a reprieve.
