An atmospheric river is responsible for heavy flooding in the U.S. state of Washington. The huge plume of moisture caused heavy precipitation starting Thursday, causing record rainfall that resulted in coastal and inland flooding.
Chehalis, Washington, approximately 70 miles south of Seattle was one of the hardest hit areas, where some people had to be rescued by boat.
High water also closed interstate 5 between Seattle and Chehalis.
