COVID-19 continues to rip through the United States, with cases and hospitalizations at or near record highs.

As families, businesses, schools and hospitals struggle to cope with surging infections, tests remain hard to come by. There have been long lines for in-person tests and home tests are often impossible to find on store shelves.

Many public health experts say the Biden administration should have been better prepared.
