As the Omicron variant spreads rapidly around the U.S., demands for PCR and rapid at-home COVID-19 tests have skyrocketed. U.S. hospitals are becoming overwhelmed by the latest wave of COVID-19 cases, and are currently begging people not to go to the emergency room for testing. U.S. President Joe Biden recently announced plans to order 500 million more at-home COVID-19 testing kits to help deal with shortages. 

The U.S. is not alone however as countries around the world are seeing similar surges in demand for COVID-19 tests amid the latest wave of new infections. Here's how other countries are dealing with the intensifying need for access to COVID tests.
