A Mexican photojournalist died after being shot three times outside his home on Monday as he left for work. Margarito Martinez Esquivel worked for international outlets including the BBC and the Los Angeles Times. 

Mexican journalists gathered at the Baja California Attorney General’s office on Tuesday ahead of a press conference to demand justice and express alarm. Martinez Esquivel, 49, worked for more than a decade in Tijuana covering the gang crime and violence.
