Known as the Wolf Moon, the first full moon of the year rose on Monday night.

It was given this name after wolves were thought to howl more frequently during this time, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac.

Since then, experts have not found a link between howling wolves and the moon. Monday night’s  Wolf Moon will look full through Wednesday morning.
