Boston Port Authority presented Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Qin Gang a plaque of recognition for China’s contribution to American workers and business community in Boston. China’s COSCO shipping has helped create over 400,000 jobs in the U.S. over the past 20 years of cooperation with Boston port, which both the U.S. port and Chinese ambassador called an example of how China-U.S. cooperation can benefit Americans.
Chinese ambassador to the U.S. Qin Gang has received a commemorative jacket from America’s labor union International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA). The gift is in appreciation for China’s efforts which saved over 9,000 U.S. jobs and created a total of 400,000 jobs in Boston port. China’s COSCO shipping company opened a direct vessel service with Boston port 20 years ago, at a time when the port was on the verge of closure after the previous shipper closed its lines. Wearing the jacket, Qin thanked ILA for “bringing some fresh air to Washington DC”, and called it an example of how China-U.S. cooperation can create jobs for Americans and achieve a win-win result.
