Residents returned to their homes on Spain’s Canary Island of La Palma this week for the first time in four months. They were evacuated due to lava spewing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano; they are now deemed no longer at risk.
The eruption left homes and cars covered with ten feet of black ash. Residents and volunteers have been working to clear the debris since they were allowed to return last Tuesday, but say there's still a long way to go.
