The Colorado fire along the U.S. Central California coast has led to evacuations and closed roads. It's currently the only fire listed on Cal Fire's website for 2022.
The fire started on Friday and is currently 20 percent contained, Cal Fire reports. Twenty miles of the scenic Highway 1 were closed near Carmel-by-the-Sea to Andrew Molera State park.
The fire covers an area of 1,050 acres and about 400 people have been evacuated.
Last year California saw nearly 9,000 wildfire incidents with the season beginning unusually early due to drought and low reservoir levels.
A year ago in January, the state was battling 297 fires.
