International aid flights from various countries, including China, carrying food, water, medical supplies and telecommunications equipment are arriving in Tonga.

The main airport runway has been cleared of ash and the government and military are working to cleanup the rest of the islands.

United Nations humanitarian officials say about 80% of Tonga's population has been impacted by the recent volcanic eruption and resulting tsunami.
