On Wednesday, the Chinese embassy in the United States and the consulate generals in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago jointly held an online award ceremony for the event "Welcome to the Chinese New Year, Celebrate the Winter Olympics." Ambassador Qin Gang attended the event and delivered a speech via video.

Nearly 100 representatives from 56 overseas Chinese groups across the United States attended the event. Chinese Consul General in New York Huang Ping, Wang Donghua, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco, Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping, and Chinese Consul General in Chicago Zhao Jian also attended the event.

”In a few days, Beijing will usher in the Winter Olympics, with full of "Chinese style", fully practicing green environmental protection, and bringing together many ‘black technologies’. What is even more commendable is that this Winter Olympics has taken strict prevention and control measures against the COVID pandemic, which will make people feel at ease,” Qin said.

Ambassador Qin said that the overseas Chinese communities in the United States took active actions to express their support for the Beijing Winter Olympics and their blessings to the motherland. 56 artworks, all of them are unique and splendid. Congratulations to all the winning projects and thanks to the overseas Chinese for their enthusiastic participation!

Ambassador Qin expressed the hope that with the Beijing Winter Olympics as an important opportunity, the overseas Chinese in the United States will be more united and take practical actions to promote the stable development of China-U.S. relations.
