In celebration of Lunar New Year, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. hosts a winter lantern show from January 27–February 6.

The event is supported by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America, and the Chinese American Museum Washington, D.C.

Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival in China, is the most important holiday for Chinese and those of Chinese descent. This year is the Year of the Tiger, and the festival starts on February 1.

This year, Beijing will host the Olympic Games on February 4 coinciding with the Chinese New Year. With one week to go before the opening of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Beijing will become the first city to host both summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games.

The visitors of the lantern show have sent their best wishes to the athletes and wish the Chinese a happy new year.
