Four oil executives at Repsol, the Spanish energy and oil company, have been barred from leaving Peru by authorities who are investigating the massive oil spill thought to have been triggered by irregular waves from the volcanic eruption in Tonga earlier this month.
The oil spill forced Lima to declare an environmental emergency.
Representatives of the four executives say they will not appeal the decision and and will cooperate with officials investigating the disaster.
