Storm Malik turns deadly, blows through Scandinavia
CGTN

Storm Malik, a powerful winter storm that first hit northern Europe on Saturday, killed at least four people. The storm brought intense rain and snow, powerful waves, and heavy winds, which were responsible for the deaths of two people in Scotland due to fallen trees.

The storm also killed one woman in Denmark, who sustained severe injuries after a fall due to the wind, and a man in Germany who was hit by a billboard that had been loosened by the storm.

Flooding from the storm shut down bridges and travel ports and also caused substantial damage due to road crashes and fallen trees.

Southern parts of Sweden were badly hit, too, and thousands of households were without electricity by Sunday afternoon. Ferries to the Baltic Sea island of Gotland were canceled because of strong winds.
