A crude pipeline ruptured in Ecuador’s Amazon late Friday, contaminating nearby waterflows in the Piedra Fina Zone.

Regressive erosion caused the privately held OCP pipeline to halt pumping in December, and the government declared a force majeure over its oil exports and production.

Crude pumping was suspended again Saturday as a preventative measure as clean up and repairs on the tube began.
