U.S. President Biden traveled to New York City with Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday to meet with Mayor Eric Adams and New York Governor Kathy Hochul at the NYPD headquarters to discuss gun violence and strategy.
Biden said the “the answer is not to defund the police,” but instead, to provide the tools and funding for law enforcement to be “protectors” and “partners” with the community.
Biden also toured a New York City public school and met with the founder of the Community Capacity Development Program.
