Hundreds of couriers from Turkey's largest food delivery company Yemeksepeti took to the street in Istanbul on Thursday to demand for higher pay, as the country's annual inflation rate has soared to a 20-year high of 48.7 percent.
Prices of consumer goods has increased by 11.1 percent in January from the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, higher than analysts' predictions.
Many couriers said they couldn't afford daily needs due to the rising living costs. They began striking on Tuesday after failing to reach an agreement on a pay raise with their employer.
