China’s Ambassador to the United Nations Zhang Jun spoke to reporters outside of a closed-door session of the UN Security Council on Friday.
The U.S. had called the special meeting to discuss missile tests coming from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Zhang Jun said that China understands the U.S. wants to solve the problems in the Korean Peninsula, and if the U.S. wants to see some new breakthroughs, “they should show more sincerity and flexibility.”
"The key to this issue is already in the hands of the United States," Zhang Jun said.
Zhang Jun said the U.S. is a direct party to the Korean Peninsula issue and that “the solution lies in dialogue.”
