Played outside with minimal contact among players, golf was deemed one of the safest sports during the coronavirus pandemic. 

And it provided a great incentive for those who missed being outdoors. 

A sudden boom in golf membership in 2020 was followed by another year of increased sales of golf equipment and hours spent on the golf course.
