Families who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook mass shooting were awarded $72 million this week by insurers of the company that made the gun used in the attack.
The settlement is remarkable because it managed to overcome a federal law that largely shields gun makers from any liability.
Gun control advocates say the landmark case could act as a blueprint for other cases.
