Abortions in Colombia are now decriminalized, ruled the nation's top court on Monday.

Many women celebrated the decision after years of organizing and rallying for more protections and access to abortions.

This decision decriminalizes abortions in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy, reports the New York Times, opening a path to better access and regulations nationwide.

Colombia joins Mexico and Argentina in legalizing the procedure.
