Plastic waste is clogging a hydroelectric dam in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Ruzizi I hydroelectric plant is the largest hydroelectric power station in the east of the DRC.

Workers inspect the trash and try to clear it.

The dam attracts thousands of bottles, cans and other trash thrown into Lake Kivu, which lies on the border between the DRC and Rwanda.
