Seven evacuation corridors were expected to be open in Ukraine on Saturday, including a route from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia in the south of Ukraine.

Tens of thousands of civilians remain trapped without access to safe water or food.  Friday’s efforts to evacuate civilians from Mariupol failed due to what the International Committee of the Red Cross called “impossible” conditions.

Russia's Defense Ministry says that due to the actions of the Red Cross, aid columns left very late and couldn't reach Mariupol on time, Russia's RIA news agency reports.

Graphic images of bodies scattered in the streets of Bucha were shared internationally Saturday. Bucha’s Mayor Anatoly Fedoruk told AFP on Saturday they “have already buried 280 people in mass graves,” since the Ukrainian army retook control of the key town outside Kyiv.

Russia has denied that it is targeting civilians.
