Officials have extended Shanghai's COVID-19 lockdown.

In efforts to eliminate the virus, the city’s 26 million people are undergoing testing over a three-day period.

Shanghai reported 9,000 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the South China Morning Post.

Positive results from the mass-testing campaign will lead to hospitalization or quarantine.

Thousands of personnel have been dispatched to the city to help during the lockdown.
