Heavy snow fell on people in Moscow amid the country’s military operation in Ukraine that saw Russian troops retreating from areas around Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy this week.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said peace talks will continue with Russia despite accusing Moscow of war crimes and genocide.
NATO chief Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday “We have seen no indication that President Putin has changed his ambition.”
Photos show heavy devastation across Ukraine, as civilians fled the eastern regions of Luhansk and Donetsk as analysts warned that Russia’s actions suggest an impending escalation of fighting there on Wednesday.
On Wednesday Russia’s RIA launched a project illustrating Russia’s special operation to ‘demilitarize and denazify Ukraine,’ which says “the Ministry of Defense assures that the Armed Forces strike only at the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, nothing threatens the civilian population.”
