An early heat wave surprised residents in India’s northwestern regions this week, with temperatures reaching 107.2 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday.

Concerns are being raised that these types of extreme weather conditions could become normal amid rising global temperatures.

As the temperatures climbed nearly eight notches above the season’s normal, people in Uttar Pradesh and Ahmedabad tried to stay cool during their daily routines.
