Brazilian Indigenous groups fight mining on their land

The Mura people in Brazil's Amazon region have been fighting for 20 years to have their ​land officially recognized, but they're not the only ones interested in their land.

Investors, with the support of President Jair Bolsonaro, are eager to tap into the underground potassium deposits. The mineral is essential for fertilizers and its value has only increased as the Russia-Ukraine conflict disrupted imports.

Many Indigenous groups have opposed the mining, and environmentalists say mining on the land can cause major environmental damage.
