New protocols for Ukrainian refugees looking to come to the United States took effect this week. 

The program, dubbed “United for Ukraine” is aimed at making the process easier for Ukrainians applying from locations in Eastern Europe. 

But for those who traveled to Mexico hoping to cross the U.S. border, the goal is now significantly more complicated.
