Wind, heat and abnormally dry weather are fueling extreme fires in New Mexico.

U.S. President Joe Biden has approved disaster assistance for parts of the state and that money will go toward those impacted by the fires, KOB4 reports.

Hundreds of homes and businesses are destroyed and thousands are displaced because of the fires.

This year's fire season started prematurely and experts warn the season has yet to peak.
