CGTN

A shoot-on-sight order has been issued by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defense for anyone found damaging state property, looting, or assaulting officials.

The order comes after anti-government protests that have largely remained peaceful for the last month turned deadly this week.

The homes of 38 politicians were burned down, and 75 others damaged.  Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned on Monday after his supporters attacked protesters demonstrating against the country’s worst economic crisis since 1948.
