The region of Donbas is completely destroyed, according to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

Internally displaced women from Dnipro in the Donbas region have formed refugee shelters where they can eat and sleep.  

Ukrainian firefighters worked to put out a blaze after an airstrike on the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Lozova. Constant strikes by Russia have left much of eastern Ukraine decimated, with Donbas at the center of the conflict. 

A bus carrying service members of the Ukrainian armed forces, who surrendered at the besieged Azovstal steel mill in Mariupol arrived under escort of the pro-Russian military in the settlement of Olenivka in the Donetsk region on Friday night. 

The Russian Defense Ministry said Friday that the last group of about 531 people from the Azov regiment that had been defending the Azovstal plant have surrendered. 

A bill to provide $40 billion in emergency aid for Ukraine was approved 86-11 by the U.S. Senate, and is being flown to South Korea where Joe Biden is on his first official presidential trip to Asia.

Another $100 million worth of Pentagon weapons and equipment is expected to ship to Kyiv, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Friday, bringing the total value of U.S. military equipment to Ukraine to $3.9 billion.

The exporting arm of Russian gas giant Gazprom, Gazprom Export, said it will suspend gas sales for Finnish state-owned gas wholesaler Gasum starting on Saturday.
