Brazil's Araucária moist forests are among the country's most degraded ecosystems. Less than 3% of its original cover still stands.To save this environment, the NGO Chaua Society has been growing and planting trees.

This year, the NGO won an award  from the British Whitley Fund for Nature. The ​$50,000 in prize money will be used to cultivate 60,000 new trees. Learn more about the work they're doing.
