Pakistan's heatwave sees temperatures soar to 118 degrees Fahrenheit

The heatwave taking place in many parts of Pakistan is expected to last through May 23, with daytime temperatures reaching as high as 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the country’s Meteorological Department said. 

Farmers are concerned that crops will be damaged as the high temperatures persist.  

Many farmers in Pakistan’s hottest city of Jacobabad are unable to work past mid morning due to the sweltering heat.  

Caretakers at the Ayub National Park in Rawalpindi monitor the animals, with their white tiger finding a pool to keep from overheating.  

People in Rawalpindi are dunking themselves in water and hydrating on sugarcane juice as they await a break in the oppressive weather.
