CGTN

Relatives of 14 miners trapped underground hold vigil near the site of an explosion that collapsed part of a coal mine on Monday, as rescue teams work against the clock to try to save them.

The miners were cut off when a blast, thought to be caused by a build up of gasses, tore through a tunnel, killed one miner on the surface and trapped the others as far as 650 feet below the surface.

The mine is in the Colombian municipality of Zulia, Norte de Santander Department, on the border with Venezuela.
