June 3 marks National Gun Awareness Day in the U.S.

To remember the survivors and victims of gun violence, many supporters and advocates also participate in the Wear Orange campaign.

The campaign started after a teen was mistakenly shot by gang members in a Chicago park.

Orange is what hunters wear for protection in the woods and organizers say they've adopted the color to symbolize the value of human life, according to Newsweek.

Wearing orange, dozens marched from Brooklyn to Manhattan on Friday, denouncing gun violence.

The city has surge in gun violence and is brining new demands to politicians and police, the AFP reports.
