In the year 2022, CGTN America wins a record of 22 Telly Awards - five Gold, 12 Silver and five Bronze, and three bronze medals and seven finalist selections in the New York Festivals International TV & Film Awards Competition.

The awards of these works fully demonstrate the CGTN America’ responsibility to present a true, and comprehensive China to international audiences with its diverse excellent works.

Every year, the Telly Awards “honor excellence in video and television across all screens.” This year’s competition – the 23rd Annual Telly Awards – celebrated an industry reemerging from pandemic lockdowns, applying a “new set of values” that considered “impact on a global scale.”

One of our programs, Tso’l Food won a total of  7 awards- one Gold, 3 Silver and one Bronze, including best series, best photography, best editing and other categories.

Tso’l Food is pronounced soul food, but spelled like the dish that inspired its name, General Tso’s chicken. The show’s host and producer, Gerald Tan, describes it as: “an American journey through the Chinese kitchen.” It is that, and more. Tso’l Food is, as Ernest Hemingway described Paris, “a moveable feast.”

CGTN America, as our name suggests, focuses on stories from China and from the Americas—North and South. A Silver Telly went to “New Endeavors-Governance in China” – our documentary on China’s 100-year transformation from a peasant economy to an industrial, high-tech powerhouse.‘New Endeavors’ highlights how economic growth and a shared sense of the common good have led to unprecedented gains for China’s people, as well as how those values are deeply rooted in how Chinese people envision their own futures, and won a Silver Telly in the Best Social Impact category.
