A one in a 500-year event.That’s how the U.S. Geological Survey has described the extreme weather devastating the Yellowstone National Park this past week.

Unprecedented levels of rainfall have led to widespread flooding, forcing more than 10,000 tourists and locals to evacuate.

The park is expected to partially reopen to visitors on Wednesday.
