The world’s top track and field athletes have gathered in the United States for the first time at the World Athletics Championships (WCH). Since 1983, the WCH has presented the world’s best athletes.
A total of 2,000 competitors from more than 200 countries will participate from July 15 to July 24 at the historic Hayward Stadium in Oregon.
Su Bingtian of China advanced to the men’s 100m semifinals on Friday, qualifying him for the semifinal Saturday.
Bingtian suffered from a recent knee injury but continues to power through, competing with other legends such as Fred Kerley of the U.S. and Zharnel Hughes of Britain.

American Randolph Ross was eliminated from the competition after not undergoing an anti-doping test. Lawrence Cherono, a Kenyan marathoner who tested positive for a prohibited drug used to alleviate chest discomfort, was also disqualified from the competition.
