As inflation soars worldwide and consumers are feeling their wallets tighten, many are buying less and throwing away less.

In Argentina, where inflation has reached over 60%, waste pickers are noticing the difference in people's trash.

Known as "cartoneros," they collect recycling and trash on carts to take to recycling centers around Buenos Aires, which pay them small amounts of money in return.

In June, Argentina's retail sales fell 4.5% by volume, while prices rose 5.3% that same month, according to official data, the AP reports.
