Affordability is often the most prohibitive reason for many people trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

A Pew Research poll from 2015 found that 45 percent of Americans believe climate change is a “very serious” threat and a little more than two-thirds (66 percent) believe that people will need to make major changes to reduce the effects of climate change.

While more people are purchasing sustainable products, the demands for the goods are still not at the same level as other options. Here’s a few reasons why prices for sustainable products remain so high.
