On Monday, August 8, FBI agents searched the residence of former President Donald Trump in Florida as part of what appears to be an investigation into documents that Trump brought with him from the White House. When he departed office, the records were intended to be turned over to the National Archives.

Trump was quick to claim that he had previously been working with investigators looking into the data, though he did not provide any additional details. The FBI is not commenting on the nature of the investigation or the search.

Trump is currently a target of several investigations, not just this one. Authorities are looking into the former president's businesses, tax filings, and acts prior to the Capitol uprising on January 6, among other things.
