His coronation might not come for months, but on Saturday, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s King Charles III was formally proclaimed Britain’s new monarch at St. James Palace in London.

Britain’s William, Prince of Wales, Queen Camilla, King Charles III and Lord President of the Council Penny Mordaunt stood before Privy Council members in the Throne Room during the Accession Council, as the city erupted in celebration and gun salutes.
